Wheel balancing is necessary each time new tires are placed on a vehicle or when you feel vibration of the vehicle. The reason is that there are often irregularities in weight and one wheel might be heavier than another, causing the vehicle to become unbalanced. A spin balancer tests wheels to determine where wheels are heavier than others are and weights are used to help balance the vehicle.
Initially, an unbalanced tire isn’t a danger to you on the road. Instead, you’ll first notice there is some vibration on the vehicle. This will become an annoyance as the car reverberates along the chassis. A decrease in fuel economy is the final concern. When your tires are not properly balanced, they cause the vehicle to drag. This causes you to use more fuel to maintain speed and to drive your vehicle. That means you’re shelling out more money that could be saved by simply balancing your tires.
